Ferrocarril de Sóller, often called the Orange Express, is a railway running since 1913. The railway system connects the town of Palma to Sóller and takes the travelers on a journey through the countryside. Currently, it stands as not just a way to travel between the two towns, but as an object of interest among tourists as well.

 

Ferrocarril de Sóller, the wooden train, runs on a track which is merely 3 feet broad. Passing through the streets of Palms, this train is a joy ride for those who love to enjoy nature. The tracks run from inside the very town of Palma to reach the beautiful countryside of Mallorca. You will get to experience another side of this beautiful island. While the mountains cover one side of the view, the other side is filled with farms spread across acres and acres of land.

 

The train also travels through many tunnels: some short while a few long ones. The trip is a short one-hour trip with stops at few small stations. The passengers are allowed to get off the train and take photographs as well.

 

After some time, the train reaches the destination- Sóller. One can take the tram to travel to the port of Sóller. Check out the town of Sóller, its coffee shops, boutiques and much more. You will have ample of time before the train leaves for Palma.
